Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about training methods, virtual coaching, pricing, and more.If you still have questions after reading through this page, you are always welcome to reach out. I’m happy to help you decide whether virtual coaching is a good fit and what the next steps might look like.
Training Philosophy
What training methods do you use?
I use positive reinforcement, choice-based training, and humane management strategies. My approach follows LIMA (Least Invasive, Minimally Aversive) standards, which means your dog’s well-being is always prioritized. I do not use prong, choke, or shock collars, or any other tool that causes fear or pain.
What is LIMA?
LIMA stands for “Least Invasive, Minimally Aversive.” It’s a professional ethical guideline that encourages using the gentlest, most effective training strategies first.
Do you work with all dog breeds?
Yes. All breeds are welcome. Every dog can learn through positive reinforcement, and every dog deserves tailored training methods that respect their individual personality and needs.
Virtual Training
How effective is virtual dog training?
It can be very effective. Working online removes environmental pressure and lets your dog learn in a familiar space. I can coach you in real time, demonstrate techniques, and help you practice step-by-step, just like in person. I can also address management issues directly by seeing the dog’s home environment.
Where are you located?
I currently serve clients virtually throughout the United States. In-person services will begin soon in the Palm Beach / Broward County region.
What kinds of behaviors can be addressed virtually?
Most training goals work well online, including puppy foundations, manners, enrichment, reactivity, fearfulness, and routine improvements. If your situation needs in-person help, I’ll be upfront and guide you accordingly.
What do I need for a video session?
A phone, tablet, or computer with a camera, plus treats, your dog’s normal equipment, and a quiet space. I’ll let you know before the session if anything else would be useful.
Sessions & Pricing
How long is each session?
Sessions are 60 minutes. Package clients also get short check-ins and light support between sessions.
What’s included in a session?
Live coaching, tailored training games, behavior and management strategies, and a custom PDF training plan delivered within 24 hours. I’ll also send any handouts or demo materials needed.
Do you offer packages or discounts?
I offer a four-session coaching package at a discounted rate. I also offer discounts for military, nurses, EMTs, firefighters, police, and for those on a fixed income (receiving social security or disability payments). Please mention if you fit into one of these groups when reaching out. I know that dog training is not always cheap, and if you cannot pay the full amount for any reason, I will personally work with you to find a rate that is affordable.
How do I pay for a session?
Once we confirm that coaching is a good fit and choose a time, you’ll receive a secure payment link in your email. Payment is handled through PayPal checkout (you do not need a PayPal account to pay). After payment, you’ll gain access to the intake form.
Suitability & Behavior Support
Can you help with reactivity or fear-based behaviors?
Yes. These dogs often thrive with virtual support because they can learn without overwhelming triggers. We’ll build skills in a safe space before gradually applying them in the real world.
Do you work with aggression cases?
It depends. Some aggression cases can be supported virtually, while others require hands-on help from a veterinary behaviorist or in-person qualified trainer. If this is the case, I will help you find options in your local area.
Do you work with multi-dog households?
Yes. Virtual coaching allows me to observe your dogs in their natural routines and address household dynamics effectively.
Puppies
What age should I start training my puppy?
Right away! Puppies begin learning as soon as they come home. Early guidance helps prevent unwanted behaviors and builds confidence from the start. However, make sure not to expect too much from your puppy, especially in the first few weeks of them being home with you.
Can you help with potty training, crate training, and biting?
Absolutely. These are some of the most common puppy challenges, and we’ll build routines that support healthy habits and development.
How do I socialize my puppy?
Socialization for puppies is incredibly important. Bringing them to different places and exposing them to new dogs, people, places, and things builds a solid foundation for a well-rounded adult dog. Joining a local puppy play group or in-person group class can be highly beneficial. Face-to-face interaction is important, but watching things from a distance is important too.
Preparation & Follow-Up
When do I receive the intake form?
After your session is confirmed and payment is complete, you'll receive access to your intake form so I can prepare for your consultation and make the most of our session.
Should I send videos before the session?
If helpful, yes. Short clips can provide valuable insight. I’ll let you know what to film and how to send it if video would benefit your case.
Will I get written notes or a training plan?
Yes! Every session includes a personalized PDF training plan summarizing key strategies and next steps, plus any relevant resources or handouts that detail games and exercises tailored to your training needs.
General
Do you offer support between sessions?
Package clients receive email support between sessions for clarifications or small adjustments. Purchasing a single session guarantees a 15-minute follow up after about a week. Larger issues may require another session.
What if I’m not sure which service I need?
You’re always welcome to reach out. I’ll help you determine whether virtual coaching is a good fit and guide you toward the best next step.
