Hi, I’m Lauren, the trainer behind Canine Confidence Club. Before I started dog training professionally, I worked as a kennel attendant, groomer, dog walker, and dog sitter. Those experiences gave me a well-rounded understanding of how dogs learn and communicate with their guardians and each other. I began teaching group classes at a retail pet store, where I was able to work with dozens of dogs and families. Over time, I found that the environment and level of distraction meant that many teams would benefit a lot more from training within their homes or neighborhoods. Canine Confidence Club was created from that realization: dogs and their guardians deserve training that sets them up for success. I’m a current member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT), and the Grisha Stewart Academy. I’m also currently working towards CPDT-KA certification (testing in March 2026), and a B.S. in Animal Behavior from Unity Environmental University.
My training philosophy is simple: be kind, and be clear. I don’t use aversive methods or tools, because dogs deserve to feel safe while they learn, and guardians deserve training that’s ethical, modern, and effective.
Working with so many different dogs and guardians over the years made me realize how much confusion and misinformation is out there. These dogs weren’t stubborn or bad. They were confused, overwhelmed, and trying their best without the right support. Becoming a dog trainer allowed me to understand the 'why' behind behavior, and how to offer the support that dogs and their families really need.
Knowing that I can change the relationship and understanding between a dog and their guardian makes this work incredibly meaningful for me. It's not just about training new cues or finally fixing that jumping problem. It's about helping people see what their dogs are saying, so they can build a partnership built on mutual trust instead of mutual frustration. If you have questions about my approach, you can read more on my blog or contact me.
My goal is to make training feel approachable, compassionate, and grounded in effective, science-backed methods. I’m here to support both you and your dog so learning feels good for everyone involved.
